Oracle’s tnsping

This is one that I forgot to post about at the time. It’s been years since I’ve played around with Oracle (so much for being a DBA at v6) and I was having problems conecting to the database. Tnsping would work but sqlplus didn’t. Turns out I hasn’t set my ORACLE_HOME environment variable, by running tnsping from the directory it resided in alters its behaviour around which tnsnames.ora file to use masking the underlying environment problem.
